BANKS, real name Jillian Banks, started writing as a teenager in her native Tarzana, California after a friend gave her a keyboard. For years, she wrote and played as a personal release, but she uploaded ‘Before I Ever Met You’ in early 2013, a sleek, low-key track that sounded like the work of someone who had grown up listening to Fiona Apple and Massive Attack. Within a matter of months, the Los Angeles native was releasing singles for Good Years, including ‘Warm Water’ (produced by Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs), ‘Work’ (featuring label mate Lil Silva) and ‘Fall Over.’

She followed that flourish of activity with the the acclaimed four-track EP, London. Which came in support of a North American tour opening for The Weeknd.

Her full-length debut, Goddess, which features collaborations with producers Lil Silva, SOHN, Shlohmo and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, arrived in September 2014, being released by Good Years in the UK/Europe and Harvest Records in the US. The album embodies the beaconing allure, get-under-your-skin lyrics and innovative musical palette that have defined BANKS singular sound.
